Who we are

Jonno Ross

Media Writer

Jonathan Ross (Jonno) joined the team at NZFF in mid 2022 to help promote our organisation and write stories to inspire as well as cover games and manage our social media . “My whole life I have lived and breathed football. In 2009, I played goalkeeper for Ngaruawahia United first team, Waitakere Youth League team, and on occasion, got the call up for the Waitakere National League side. In 2010 I moved to Onehunga Sports where I was the men’s first-team keeper. That same year, I got the call up for the New Zealand under 20’s side, who qualified for the 2011 u20 World Cup in Columbia, but unfortunately my playing career came to an end at only 19 years old, as I was a passenger in a car accident that left me in a wheelchair”. Since then, football is still Jonno’s number one passion, and he has been involved as much as possible. He has done previews and statistics for what used to be called the ASB Premiership (the NZ National League), and is currently the writer for the Friends of Football website. He is also the current team manager for Mount Albert Ponsonby in Div 1 of the Men’s NRFL. We are so pleased to have Jonno’s expertise on board, and look forward to building a strong following with his help.
