The New Zealand Football Foundation has announced that Barbara Dreaver has been selected as the newest board member, starting her role in January 2025.
Motivated to generate interest and greater resourcing for Pasifika girls and women in football, Barbara aims to draw on her strengths to develop strong messages across social media and publication.
“Sport is not just what happens on the field - although we love that too. It’s a great equaliser with the potential to change lives so I'm excited to be a part of The Football Foundation to make a difference - especially amongst communities which need it the most. Developing the potential amongst our tamariki is a win-win for us all.” says Barbara.
Barbara brings to the Foundation her extensive experience within journalism, having worked in print, radio and television over the past 34 years. She is currently working as the Pacific Correspondent for TVNZ news and current affairs and was awarded the New Zealand Reporter of the Year at the 2022 TV Awards.
Her contributions were further recognised when she was named an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2024 New Years Honours List.
The Foundations Chair, Aliesha Staples has said "The NZFF team are thrilled by the appointment of Barbara, her breadth of knowledge and expertise are a valuable addition to the foundation's board. I look forward to working alongside Barbara as we super charge our impact and initiatives that support our local communities through football."
