Who we are

Daniel Alford

Project Coordinator

Daniel joined the Football Foundation as a Project Coordinator in September 2025 and will continue this role for a 12-month internship.

He comes to us from Loughborough University in the UK, where he is studying for a Bachelor of Science: Sport and Exercise Psychology degree. Daniel has a keen interest in data analysis and research studies, as well as understanding how psychological frameworks and phenomena affect the performance of players and coaches.

Daniel has a passion for sport, and it has been a key aspect of his life from a young age. He joined cricket teams from the age of six and played county level cricket for Devon in his youth. As well as finding an interest in football, basketball and golf; he’s always looking for new sports to play and teams to join.

Through this internship, Daniel aims to gain valuable insights into how the New Zealand Football Foundation operates and the footballing landscape across New Zealand. He wants to contribute to work that tackles social causes and improves the accessibility of football to everyone nationwide.

His role will focus on managing the Foundation's e-newsletter, developing donation and fundraising campaigns, grants, research and supporting the online digitization project.
